Before you start

  • I'm using my own exchange account, verified (KYC) with my real identity
  • My exchange name matches my bank account name
  • Authenticator 2FA is on for my exchange and email, with unique strong passwords
  • Anti-phishing code and withdrawal whitelist are on (if available)
  • I've read my bank's or payment app's terms on crypto activity
  • I'm only using money I can afford to lose
  • I've checked my local tax rules and my country's crypto regulation (MiCA in the EU/EEA; local rules elsewhere)

Before every session

  • I know my total cost per USDT, including every fee
  • I know my break-even sell price and won't price below it
  • My ad lists a sensible trading quantity (on Bitget this also sets the max order) and only payment methods I can verify instantly
  • I have time to check each payment without rushing

Before every release

  • I opened my own banking app directly, not a screenshot, email or SMS
  • The payment is completed, not pending
  • The exact amount arrived
  • The sender name exactly matches the buyer's verified name (third-party payments are strictly forbidden)
  • I'm not reacting to pressure or urgency

If any box above is unticked, do not release.

Red flags: stop and do not release

  • "My friend paid for me" (third-party payment)
  • The payment reference or amount looks like a marketplace purchase, not your order
  • A stranger contacts you about a product they paid for. Stop: release nothing and take your ads offline
  • "I'm from support, release now"
  • "I overpaid, send the difference back"
  • "Let's continue on Telegram or WhatsApp"
  • Fake-looking receipts or bank messages
  • A new account wanting a very large order

It happened to me: Scammers used my Vipps number on fake FINN listings. A buyer paid me for a product they never got, while the scammer opened a P2P order with me, and I released the coins without knowing. The name check is what catches this. Keep your payment number off public pages and share it only inside the order chat.

If something is wrong

  • Don't release
  • Don't send money back on your own; use the platform's process
  • Open a dispute (appeal) and follow the platform's instructions; it tells you what to upload
  • Keep your bank statement or screenshots ready
  • For scams: report to the platform and the police, and contact your bank. Outcomes vary

After every trade

  • Log it: date, order number, USDT, price, fiat amount, buyer name, sender name and fees
  • Back up your records weekly
